Mira’s First Wrong Guess
A thin shelf strip keeps lifting at one end. Mira thinks the support is too short. She chooses a longer one, fits it carefully and watches the other end rise instead. Nori looks from the shelf to the expert. Mira puts the new support down. “That was a guess,” she says. “A careful one, but still a guess.”
Fina asks them to leave the piece loose while they inspect its curve. Bruno holds it gently above the table. The strip has a natural twist, so forcing either end down lifts the other. It might work better as a light curved divider than a flat shelf.
Two ways forward
Nori is relieved to see that knowing a great deal does not mean knowing the answer before looking. Mira is relieved when the friends do not turn one wrong guess into a story that she can never help again. They have learned something real from a test that did not work. The new discovery makes Mira curious enough to look again. Where should the room keep this honest piece of learning?
Label the strip for a different use
Mira looks at the twisted piece from the other end. Her first confident explanation falls apart quite politely. “That is a useful surprise,” she says. Nori is relieved that even an experienced friend can begin with the wrong guess. Fina draws the strip’s actual curve and places it with light dividers rather than flat shelves. Mira checks the new description. The material keeps its shape, and the room gains more accurate information about what it can do.
A good place to stop
Mira leaves the new finding where the friends can compare it. Her first guess has become part of learning, rather than something to hide. Nori likes the room better for that.
