Mira Does Not Fix It Yet
The table drawer catches every time Nori tries to open it. He gives it a harder pull, then asks Bruno to help. A pale birch-bark neighbour hears the scrape from outside. “Mira,” she says, introducing herself. A small twine spool rests beside her twig feet.
Nori steps back, ready for the expert to make the problem disappear. Mira does not touch the drawer. She asks him to show her where it catches. He pulls slowly this time. Fina notices a loose chip leaning across the edge, and Bruno holds the table while they look underneath.
Two ways forward
The chip is not rubbish. It is a divider that has slipped from its slot. Mira shows the little groove where it belongs. Nori wants to push it straight in. She lets him try gently, then asks which way the grain runs. The piece fits more comfortably when he turns it to match the groove. Mira watches her friends try, with her own hands resting beside her. Which sort of help should they keep?
Save a simple repair picture
Mira sets her spool down, where it cannot roll into someone’s feet. Her twig hands remain empty while the others inspect the drawer. It looks like doing nothing. Fina notices how much room that nothing leaves for learning. Fina draws the groove and divider while Mira checks the important detail. Nori tries the drawer once more without a reminder. The picture stays by the table, where the next careful beginner can use it too.
A good place to stop
The drawer moves as it should. Mira leaves the next attempt to her friends. Nori has a useful new skill and a reason to welcome their patient neighbour back.
