The Beautiful Piece That Didn’t Fit
Bruno finds a broad bark piece with a lovely natural curve. It would make a generous shelf, and Nori immediately begins choosing its place inside. There is only one difficulty: the piece will not pass through the door. Turning it sideways makes one end fit and the other catch.
They put it down before anyone pushes harder. The door is not at fault for being the size it is, and the bark is not foolish for growing a curve. Fina measures the opening with a loose length of twine, then compares that simple measure with the proposed shelf.
Two ways forward
Mira shows where a smaller usable section might come from an existing loose edge. She does not cut anything merely to win the argument. The larger piece could also make an outdoor resting surface under a root, where its curve would be an advantage rather than a problem. The room has real edges, even when a lovely idea feels limitless. Which need should this particular shape serve?
Choose a smaller usable shelf piece
The beautiful curve almost fits if Nori holds his breath. Fina asks whether the doorway will hold its breath all day too. Nori lets his out with a laugh. The curve stays beautiful outside the room. They select the already suitable smaller piece and leave the larger curve safely stored for another use. Fina keeps the doorway measure beside the plan. Next time they can ask whether something fits before carrying it all the way home.
A good place to stop
The lovely curve is no longer stuck in the doorway. Bruno can enjoy its shape without forcing the room to change size. Fina walks through the door comfortably after him.
