Lulu and the Missing Moon-Glow

Lulu the fairy and Pip the mouse must find out why the forest flowers are closing too early.

The Dark Petals

The night was very quiet in the deep forest. Lulu, the fairy, flew through the tall trees. She looked for the magic moon-flowers. Usually, the flowers glowed in a soft, silver light. But tonight, everything was dark. The moon-flowers were all closed tight. Their petals looked dark and sleepy. "That is very strange," Lulu whispered to herself. "Why are they sleeping so early?" The forest felt cold and too dim. Lulu was a little bit worried. Something was definitely not right in the woods tonight.

A Tiny Meeting

Lulu flew toward a very large oak tree. She heard a small sound in the grass. "Squeak, squeak!" It was Pip, the mouse. He had big, round ears and a long, grey tail. Pip looked very worried. "The flowers are sleeping too early," Pip whispered. Lulu nodded her head. Her pink hair shone in the dark. "That is very strange," said Lulu. "We must find out why!" Pip stood up tall. "I will help you," he said. Now, the two friends were a team.

The Sticky Path

Lulu and Pip walked toward the flower meadow. Suddenly, Lulu stopped. "Oh no!" she cried. The ground was very strange. They were walking on thick, golden pine resin. It smelled very sweet. Pip tried to take a step, but his little foot stayed stuck. "Help!" squeaked Pip. He pulled and pulled, but the resin was too strong. Lulu used a drop of magic star-dew from her pocket. The stickiness vanished instantly! They were free from the sweet, golden trap and could continue their journey.

The Obstacle

Oh no! A heavy branch lay on the ground. It blocked the path to the flower meadow. Lulu looked at the big piece of wood. "We must go around," said Pip. Lulu shook her head. She wanted to fly over the branch. She flapped her dragonfly wings very fast. But the wind was too strong today! The wind pushed Lulu back down. "Whoosh!" went the wind. Lulu landed softly on a mossy stone. The branch was just too big for her to move alone.

A Bright Idea

Pip saw a long, thin twig in the grass. "Look, Lulu!" he called excitedly. "We can use this twig as a lever!" Pip pushed the twig under the heavy branch. He pressed with all his strength. The branch wiggled a little. "That is not quite enough," said Lulu. She had an idea. Lulu flew very close to the branch. She beat her sparkling wings hard to create a strong breeze. Together, with Pip's lever and Lulu's wind, they pushed the branch aside. Now the path was clear.

The Discovery

Lulu and Pip finally reached the flower meadow. The flowers were still closed and dark. "Look over there!" Pip whispered. He pointed with his tiny paw. In the middle of the moonlight path, something blocked the light. It was a very large, shiny pebble. The pebble was smooth and bright, but it was in the wrong place. It cast a big, dark shadow over the sleeping flowers. "The stone is hiding the moonlight!" Lulu said. Now they knew the secret of the dark petals.

Working Together

The shiny pebble was very heavy. "One, two, three!" shouted Lulu. She pressed her tiny hands against the stone and pushed with all her strength. Pip grabbed the other side with his little paws. He pulled and pulled with his strong mouse muscles. They worked together as a perfect team. Suddenly, the pebble moved! It rolled away from the path. The bright moonlight fell directly onto the sleeping flowers. The magic light was back. The mystery was solved!

Glowing Night

Suddenly, the magic returned. The moonlight hit the meadow again. Slowly, the moon-flowers opened their petals. They glowed with a bright, silver light. The whole forest looked beautiful and warm now. "We did it!" cried Pip with a happy squeak. Lulu smiled and fluttered her wings. The darkness was gone. The flowers were happy and awake. Lulu and Pip sat together in the soft grass. They rested under the warm, silver light. It was a perfect, glowing night in the forest.

A few little answers

What is the Story Garden?

The Story Garden by Mary’s Fairyland offers illustrated fairy stories in English and German for ages 4–12. Read together, listen to a narrator, or create a personal story.

Can my child practise reading German?

Every book has English and German text. Switch languages, use English help, listen to German narration and replay individual words. Choose “Learning / new language” for simpler personal stories.

How long are the stories?

Choose estimated reading times of 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes. Age and reading confidence change the length and vocabulary. Read at your own pace.

Are the stories free?

Public books are free to read. Personal story creation and new natural narration are currently a limited free beta, subject to a shared monthly allowance. Prepared books remain readable when that allowance rests.

Are personal stories private?

Personal books are private by default. A parent can create an unlisted link, which expires after 90 days and can be switched off earlier. Never include sensitive details in a story.

Does this work on a phone or a computer?

Yes. Story Garden is designed for a web browser, with a spacious computer layout and touch-friendly reading on phones and tablets.

How are the stories made?

AI creates the text, illustrations and natural narration. Automated checks review language, age suitability and pictures. AI can make mistakes, so reading together is encouraged.

What do you measure?

Optional parent-approved analytics count reading actions and returning browsers for 28 days. We do not record screens, typed names, prompts, passwords, story text or share links. You can turn measurement off in Privacy choices.

FOR GROWN-UPS

Small steps. Wonderful stories.

Choose ages 4–6, 7–9 or 10–12 and a reading confidence level. Younger stories use shorter sentences and gentler problems. New-language mode uses simpler German. Reading times are estimates, not a race.

Personal stories are private until you create a share link. Family accounts save books, favourites and reading progress across devices. Guest progress stays in this browser. There are no child accounts, advertisements or microphone recordings. A parent email is used only for account verification and password resets. The service owner can review accounts and stories for support and quality.

Story text and optional first names are processed by our AI providers to create the book. Use made-up names and avoid sensitive details. Narration, when prepared, is cached for that page, language and voice. Device voices may use your device provider's online service.

Stories pass automatic language, age-suitability and picture checks. AI can still make mistakes. Reading together is encouraged.

To keep this small project affordable, new stories and new narration share a monthly allowance. When it is used, existing books and cached narration remain available. Device voices are always an alternative.
